Darren Hayes has had a busy week. He's released his single 'Bloodstained Heart' in Australia, appeared on The X Factor-Australia and has been getting ready to release his new album 'Secret Codes and Battleships.' Yet the singer/songwriter still had time to speak to us about his upcoming show at the O2 ABC on 16th October.
Are you looking forward to your show in Glasgow?
I've managed to play Glasgow on most of my tours since Savage Garden and I'm so proud of that. There's a real kinship I think people Australians and the Scottish and in particular a really warm welcome in Glasgow. I must feel at home because I keep coming back!
What is your favourite thing about Scotland?
I know this sounds strange, but I love your weather. It's so dramatic and turbulent. As a kid growing up in Australia we had two seasons : hot or not. Scotland just feels exotic and wild in comparison. I also love the food scene - I had one of the best Italian meals in my life in Glasgow once!
What’s your favourite Scottish word?
I love the accent and the way you say 'wee' always makes me smile. It has an entirely different meaning in Australia.
What’s next for you this year?
This year my album launches the same week as my UK tour - and then we take the tour to Australia for November before heading back home to London for the Christmas period. Lots of promotion. It's been 4 years since my last tour and album so I'm keen to let as many people know as possible that I'm proud of this new record.
